New collection.

Forest mist, blurred ridgelines and the evocative presence of mountains, Lucia’s most recent collection of paintings is inspired by walks around the Ceiriog Valley, north Wales where she lives with her partner and son. Using the landscape as a source for her paintings she uses suggestive mark making in an attempt to convey atmosphere, energy and quality of light. Her paintings are not meant as direct representations of a place, they are painted and titled from memory, allowing a freedom of form that often journeys into abstraction.

ceramics.

Lucia’s approach to ceramics is heavily influenced by her painting practice and has evolved from a desire to create usable works of art. She uses traditional hand building techniques to create organic shapes in stoneware that act as three dimensional surfaces for her glazing technique. Her recognisable mark-making transfers from canvas to ceramic in a fluid painterly style.
